Payouts
Payments are how you collect money from customers. Sometimes these are the same as payouts (such as when collecting cash). Sometimes, TIDY accumulates these as a balance on your account (such as when you collect payment by credit card). "Payouts" how you get this money to your account. Payouts come from Stripe, the connected provider we use to process payments such as ACH/credit card.
As you earn money for jobs, you can select how you want to get paid out. TIDY does not charge differently for each of the following payout options:
- Direct Deposit - This is the fastest, cheapest, and most popular option. Money goes straight from clients to your bank account.
- Check - Checks are processed weekly and sent to your address on file.
- Credit Card - You can charge clients by credit card using a special card created by TIDY. This can be fast but incurs fees from your credit card processor.
If you want to get paid by check or credit card for a job, let us know. The default option is Direct Deposit, or "Bank Payouts", as they are by far the most popular option.
Know Your Customer Laws (KYC) & Tax Reporting
Sometimes, banks require additional information for regulations known as "Know Your Customer" (KYC) information. If you need to enter this info, you will be prompted in this section. Please fill it out, and let us know if you have any other issues. Depending on the method of payout, we may also be required to fill out tax reporting documents, such as a 1099 in the US. If that information is needed from you, we will collect that as well. The information required will vary by your location and the method of payments and payouts you choose.
When "Bank Payouts" is selected, we automatically send any credit card payments made by clients to your account via direct deposit ACH.
To select this option, in your app, tap "More", then in the "Payments" section tap on "Payout Settings". You should see the option to select direct deposit, and answer any additional questions.. Fill that out, and any follow on steps that may be required.
Direct deposits are automatically sent, no action is needed.
You can select "check" if you prefer a mailed paper check to your address on file. Payouts are sent on the same schedule, but they are typically slower, as they have to go through the mail. Checks typically take 7-10 business days to arrive, based on feedback from partner banks.
To select this option, in your app, tap "More", then in the "Payments" section tap on "Payout Settings". You should see the option to recieve checks. Fill that out, and any follow on steps that may be required.
Checks will automatically be sent, and you will only need to deposit the check when it arrives.
You can select "credit card" if you prefer to swipe a credit card to receive your balance from TIDY. If you select this option, we will issue you a one time use card authorized for the balance owed. You can charge that card for your balance whenever you like.
To select this option, in your app, tap "More", then in the "Payments" section tap on "Payout Settings". You should see the option to recieve payouts by credit card. Fill that out, and any follow on steps that may be required.
We will send you a credit card to process on the regular schedule, and you will need to actually process the credit card using your third party payment processor.
Payouts include any payments earned from clients who pay by credit card or via their employer, less any fees incurred for clients. This includes:
- Any client payments for completed cleanings
- Any client cancellation payments
- Any client bonuses
- Any client tips
- Less any fees for clients
- Less any fees owed TIDY
All payouts are sent every Wednesday for the calendar week 2 weeks prior, from Sunday to Saturday.
If using bank payouts, you will be paid by direct deposit. Transfer times can vary based on your bank, from 1-5 days, but typically arrive 2 days after they are sent.
If using checks, checks are every Wednesday as well. Checks typically take a bit longer to arrive, as they are physically mailed. Expect them between 7-10 business days after sending (this is the time our bank takes to process checks).
If using credit card, those can be processed starting Wednesday.
To reduce fraud, we tie payments to jobs completed in the system and process payments 1 week sooner when one of the following events occur:
- You use the app to start and finish the job at the location specified.
- The customer confirms the job was satisfactorily done.
- The job was done for a repeat customer.
Hint: Accelerate Payouts by Completing Jobs
There are 2 ways to accelerate payouts. (1) Update the job in the app/online accurately or (2) the customer can leave a positive review. Accelerated payouts are paid 1 week earlier, as they have a significantly lower fraud rate.
Example:
Let's say you did 2 jobs, 1 on Monday and 1 on Thursday. You would expect to get a bank payout on the next Wednesday for accelerated bank payout, and the 2nd Wednesday if not accelerated. This table may help:

While payouts should arrive within 2 days of the date shown in your app, these times vary by your bank. If you don't receive a payout 5 days after the date shown, please let us know so that we can help. This can mean it was returned by your bank.
They are paid faster because the fraud rate on them is lower.
