Your company has offered to give you cleaning as a benefit. This is a great benefit, allowing you to have a healthier happier home.

Each month, your employer BetterHelp is giving you $150 to use with cleanings. They use TIDY to administer this benefit.

Now here is how credits actually work:

  • On the 1st of each month, credit arrives inside your TIDY account.
  • You can use that credit with any vendor on the platform. We will use the credit by default when sending a payment to anyone on your behalf.

TIDY is here to help you navigate this world so you get the cleanings you want. People typically use their cleaning benefits in 1 of 3 ways.

  1. They use them to pay pros they already work with.
  2. They use them with pros that they get through referrals.
  3. They use us to help find a new pro.

You should be able to work with just about any cleaner that can legally work. This is a huge benefit, because we know that many of you will have a preference. You can work with a new individual you trust, or a company with employees. The key is flexibility.

If you have a cleaner you already use and trust, TIDY is easy. We are just helping send payments to your pros. Just let us know, and we will easily send payments. It's a bit similar to Venmo, although the cleaner can accept payment by check, credit card, or direct deposit into their bank account. We handle required tax reporting for these payments.

The easiest way to send payments to someone you work with is to add them to your list of pros in the “My Pros” section. Then, tap send payment, and indicate the amount you want to send.

If you don’t have a cleaner you use, we first recommend asking for referrals. The cleaning industry is hyper local. Getting a cleaning recommendation from someone you trust is a shortcut to a good experience. You can add them, and then issue payments to them.

We have onboarded thousands of cleaners into the platform, and we recommend using the following script with them:

“Hi, my employer is paying for cleaning. I got your information from my friend, and I was looking for help cleaning my house. I just wanted to make sure you could get paid by check, direct deposit, or credit card. My company would be paying directly for it, and they can set it up.”

We have heard in the past a couple of points of confusion:

  • Asking if they “accept TIDY” or something like that can create confusion, we recommend not mentioning TIDY, as it is not super important to these transactions. We are just here to help on your and your employer’s part. If they accept a check, direct deposit, or credit card, it should work fine for them.
  • There will need to be a 1099 filed, so if they are not legally able to get paid, they would not be eligible.

If you don’t have a cleaner that you use or can add, TIDY can help you find a vendor. We have a network of cleaners, as well as a team of people who pick up the phone and talk to vendors who might be able to help. We can share your needs and schedule them for you.

But first, some context is important. Cleaning is a very personal thing and it can be hard to get it done the way you want. This means your first cleaner may not be a good fit for you, but this is normal. Remember each cleaner or cleaning team is different. Every single cleaner has people who love them and people who dislike their work after a while. The cleaning industry is one with a wide range of providers, with widely ranging reliability and styles of service. So finding that right fit can take looking at a few vendors. COVID also destroyed the industry, with over 80% of cleaners leaving the industry. The cleaning industry is still recovering. This means that it is harder than ever before to find cleaners. So please be patient as we work to find cleaners on your behalf. If you get a cleaner, and they aren’t the right fit for you, we can block that vendor from your account, so you can’t get them again. Giving us feedback on your cleaners helps us find the right fit for you and others.

If you are using TIDY to find a vendor, our hope is that everyone can have a vendor they like within 90 days of starting to try and use their benefits.

Our Concierge team is here to help support you. We have a team who is available with a median response time of 5 minutes during typical business hours. You can get a hold of them via the Concierge tab on our website, from the Concierge tab on the app, or by emailing [email protected]. This team can answer questions, or take your feedback, and use it to improve your experience.

In summary, here are some tips to improve your experience:

  • Using someone you already know or a referral is going to be a shortcut to a good experience. TIDY’s payments should be easy.
  • If you are just starting the process of finding a vendor, expect it to take a few tries to get right. You are likely to see at least 1 no show and 1 bad cleaning before finding the right vendor for you. TIDY makes this process easier, but we don’t solve all problems.

Please let us know how we can help, and we look forward to getting everyone set up.
